Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. At an Maryland high school contest at the beginning of her schooling, she won the prize for the most outstanding actress. In the years following her involvement in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting degree at the New York University. The actress received lots of praise after her debut large part on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. In the following years, she was a star in movies such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". Her appearance on the television series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. At the beginning of her career, she was in several stage plays. Parker who has a keen interest in politics, is married with actor/model Boris Kodjoe. Two children were born to them.
Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven. Contractor was a seasoned traveler who enjoyed the world and an array of different cultures from a young age. She attended boarding schools at the age between 7 and 9 years old in London. Then her family returned in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she lived for the rest of her childhood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become ballet dancer of classical training. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school where she was able to study not only dance, but also drama. At 16 after a decade of years of dancing Contractor discovered she was looking to study acting professionally. When she graduated from high school she accepted a full grant to attend the University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in theatre and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After an entire year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. She accepted the invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. It is a place where only four men and eight women can take the 20-week crash program in classical theatre. Her place was guaranteed during the upcoming series of plays as she was offered the part for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
